Every member of the Parr family has a distinctive ability tied specifically to their personality and role within the family, but that doesn't mean they didn't go through changes in pre-production. In a recent conversation with IGN, Incredibles and Incredibles 2 director Brad Bird revealed that, at one point, everyone in the family except Bob had the ability to fly.
The MCU has been long overdue for a major female-led solo film. It’s frankly sad it’s taken 10 years to finally get an MCU film with a female lead, but right now Captain Marvel is the hero the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs, and there’s never been a better time for her to make her debut. In some ways, Carol is very similar to the other heroes; she’s bold, trades quips mid-fight with bad guys, and prides herself on being an Avenger.
Uncharted has long been a series built on duos. Whether it’s Nathan Drake and Sully, Nate and Elena, or Nate and Sam, each pairing has its own unique dynamic adding layers and complexity to the narrative while revealing new sides of these respective characters. These duos are usually explored in respectful and complex ways, but there has long been a very specific one missing.
The Marvel Star Wars comics have been great building blocks to explore the Star Wars galaxy at large. Side stories depicting the origins of rebellion and resistance, tales discussing the impact of war on the galaxy, and introductions to all-new characters are some of the many different narratives we’ve seen, each adding to continuity in unique ways.
Ratchet & Clank is proof there’s still a lot of mileage left in the 3D platformer genre. It’s less of a reboot and more of a return to form, revitalizing and updating the franchise while simultaneously keeping its use of inventive weapons, alien worlds, and quirky attitude intact. Resurrecting an older franchise can be a gamble, but here the payoff is plentiful.
It’s 11am on a Saturday when I open the door to the Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment, and immediately I feel the buzz of a joyous, creative energy. I’m greeted by Alex Handy, the founder and director of the MADE whose friendly demeanor and excited passion for video game history is nothing if not infectious.
Overwatch’s design is bizarre. None of it fits within any molds typically found in team-based shooters. Only a handful of its characters are familiar from other types of video games. It doesn’t even adhere to the same rule sets often observed by multiplayer shooters. And yet it works, and it works well.
Actor Tony Shalhoub first appeared in the television show Monkin 2002, in which he played a San Francisco-based detective with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder named Adrian Monk. As one might expect, having OCD meant that Monk had a variety of quirks ranging from organizing keyboards alphabetically to wiping everything he touched with sanitizing wipes, all for the sake of comedy.
"It's no secret that the classic arcade has fallen on hard times," Seth says, confirming an unfortunate reality. The good old days of arcade popularity and machines dotting the walls of bars, restaurants, and even grocery stores have largely gone the same way as stirrup pants, Pogs, and jean vests; all ushered out the door in favor of a newer, more connected digital age.
It’s easy to take Twitter’s influence for granted. When you wade into your feed you're likely to see ads, pictures of animals, hyperbolic rants, and overly generous use of #hashtags. Despite these often superfluous uses, Twitter is one of the most powerful forms of communication at our disposal.
